There's no essential difference between the stand‑alone and plug‑in versions, so for the purposes of this review I'll concentrate on the plug‑in. The idea is that at the end of the 15 days you choose your favourite instrument and assign the single permanent license to it.īrass 2.0 runs as a stand‑alone application on Mac and Windows, and as a VST, RTAS and Audio Units plug‑in. The authorisation process looks a little convoluted, but is actually really easy and well described in the manual, and a further advantage of the Syncrosoft approach is that you can swap a disk‑based authorisation onto a dongle - or vice‑versa - any time you choose.īrass is also available as part of Arturia's 'One' package, which consists of a DVD costing 229 Euros $249 and containing eight of their software instruments, with a license for 15 days use. Arturia use Syncrosoft copy protection, which means you can get your licence on a Syncrosoft USB dongle if you wish, or use a straightforward disk‑based method. For both platforms, 512MB RAM and a 2GHz dual‑core processor are minimum requirements. It's a universal binary, so both PowerPC and Intel users are supported. The MIDI Preset editor opens up in the central area of the main window, and lets you assign various MIDI controllers to instrument parameters.Īccording to Arturia, to run Brass 2.0 you need a PC with Windows 2000, XP or Vista, or a Mac with OS 10.4 or higher. Modelling acoustic instruments is a tricky business, though, so how have Arturia got on with this latest attempt? Brass Tacks Additionally, Brass 2.0 promises to be a friend to all laptop owners: its installation footprint is comparatively small, and there's absolutely no reliance on streaming samples. These include potentially greater levels of expressivity, especially for soloing, and a freedom from the arguably limiting, inflexible nature of lick- or phrase‑based sound libraries. Brass 2.0 was developed in conjunction with boffins at the IRCAM institute in Paris, and claims all sorts of benefits over its sample‑based competitors. But tucked away in their product range is a different kind of virtual instrument, one that uses physical and acoustic modelling techniques to generate a range of trumpet, trombone and saxophone sounds that span the stylistic spectrum. The French company Arturia are well known - and deservedly so - for their range of outstanding virtual synths. Here all four sound slots are loaded with instruments, and several take advantage of the in‑built automation system for some of their parameters. The main interface of Brass 2.0, in Live mode. The new version of Arturia's Brass instrument attempts to create realistic‑sounding trombones, trumpets and saxophones, so just how successful is it?

Critical troubleshooting happens automatically in the background and won’t get in the way of using your device. In addition to this tool, a critical troubleshooter is being gradually rolled out to all affected Home and non-managed business devices. Resolution: You can resolve this issue by downloading and executing one of the files listed in the article KB5034510 Printer Metadata Remediation Tool – December 2023. If this is the case, some or all of those extended functions might not work. However, this issue might affect associations with other manufacturer-supplied printer apps used to extend basic printer capabilities. Printers on the device will continue to use the expected drivers for printer operations. In most cases, it should be possible to use the printer as expected, including queueing printing jobs, as well as other features such as copy, scan, or fax. Note: Our investigations indicate that this issue is not caused by an HP update.

He joked that Doncic has been dominating high-stakes games since he was nine years old, a nod to the championships Doncic won with Real Madrid and the Slovenian national team as a teenager. "He's built for these moments," said Mavs guard Jalen Brunson, who had 24 points in Sunday's win. He helped keep this series alive with 33 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and four steals with the Mavs facing elimination in Thursday's Game 6. He had 46 points and 14 assists in a Game 7 loss last season against the LA Clippers. Well, they were right, but they didn't have us on the winning side."Ī major reason for the Mavs' belief was because of Doncic's track record of performing spectacularly in pressure situations. A lot of people said it was going to be a blowout. That's why we showed up to play this evening. "We believe, and it showed today, but we've got to go through this journey," first-year Dallas coach Jason Kidd said. According to ESPN Stats & Information research, that is the lone Game 7 road rout in league history that was more lopsided than the Mavs' blowout of the Suns. It's understandable that the 23-year-old Doncic does not recall the Philadelphia Warriors' 39-point Game 7 win over the St. I can't remember the last time that somebody went to the away game and did this, so I'm really proud of what we did today." I've never seen a performance on Game 7 like this. It was the whole team today," said Doncic, who averaged 32.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists in the seven games, leading all players on both teams in each of the three categories during the series. Booker didn't score from the floor until soon after that. Paul's first bucket didn't come until the Suns were down 40 midway through the third quarter. Dallas, led by forwards Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith on the defensive end, held Phoenix to 24.4% shooting from the floor in the first half, when the Suns star trio of Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Ayton combined to go 1-of-15. He's never scared of the moment."ĭoncic cited Dallas' dominant defensive performance, not his individual brilliance, as the primary reason he scored as many points in the first half as the Suns. "He's the type of guy who wants to throw the knockout punch," said Mavs sixth man Spencer Dinwiddie, who scored a career playoff-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting, combining with Doncic to become the first pair of teammates to each score 30 in a Game 7 since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal in the 2002 Western Conference finals. Doncic finished the first half with 27 points, matching Phoenix's total, and becoming the first player in at least 25 seasons to equal or exceed an opponent's scoring in a half of a playoff game. The Footprint Center crowd booed the Suns at the halftime buzzer - when the 30-point deficit was the largest ever at the half of a Game 7, according to ESPN Stats & Information research - and frequently in the second half.ĭoncic seized control of the game seconds into the opening possession, swishing a turnaround jumper over Phoenix center Deandre Ayton, the player the Suns selected over Doncic with the No. The Mavs responded by winning four out of five games, putting the finishing touches on the series by humiliating Phoenix on its home court. So I'm just happy."ĭallas, which was coming off its first playoff series victory since the franchise's 2011 championship run, was a decided underdog in the conference semifinals before falling in an 0-2 hole with a pair of road losses. Maybe a couple of games here we weren't ourselves, but we came here with a statement in Game 7. We've been playing hard the whole series. "You can't get this smile off my face right now," Doncic said after he had 35 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals in only 30 minutes, sitting out the entire fourth quarter because the win was already secured. And Doncic has never had more fun in his NBA career than he did while destroying a Phoenix team that followed up winning the West a year ago by posting by far the best record in the league this season. The Mavericks will be a surprise participant in the Western Conference finals, claiming the right to face the Golden State Warriors by rolling to a 123-90 road rout of the Suns. The 56 Leonard lot, previously owned by the New York Law School, was exempt from these limits. These vistas-as well as views of the tower from elsewhere in Manhattan-could actually remain unobstructed due to the peculiarities of the 12,500-square-foot parcel, which is surrounded by a mostly low-rise, height-restricted historic district. In the case of 56 Leonard, depending on an apartment’s position and orientation within the structure, occupants look out over the surrounding neighborhood and toward the Hudson and East rivers, Wall Street and the World Trade Center, and, in the distance, Midtown. This is the tall, slim, luxury residential tower with spectacular city views. The most exuberant projections occur near the top.īut even if the expressive crown refers to an earlier time of New York’s classical skyscrapers with silhouetted spires, Herzog & de Meuron’s building, which has a width-to-height ratio of about 1:10.5, is also representative of an emerging New York typology. Although no two floors within the building are exactly the same, the unit types are organized into seven zones that can be discerned from the outside if one carefully studies the shift in the patterns of the extending balconies. The 831-foot-tall reinforced concrete structure contains only 145 condominiums, ranging from 650-square-foot studios to penthouse apartments of more than 6,000 square feet. This sensation of pushing and pulling, together with its reflective glass envelope, give the building a compelling chimera-like quality, with features that seem to change depending on one’s vantage point, the weather conditions, or the time of day. Its protruding elements recall the famous image of a disembodied hand sliding one apartment into a model of Le Corbusier’s Unité d’Habitation in Marseille, France. But now, nearly a decade after ground was broken, the structure, made up of stacked glassenclosed volumes and projecting terraces, is almost finished, and residents are starting to move in.Īscan Mergenthaler, a Herzog & de Meuron partner, says that the idea behind the unusual cantilevering geometry was not to defy gravity, but to design the units from the inside out and then express the individual apartments and their generous outdoor spaces in the form of the architecture.Īlthough 56 Leonard has been referred to as “Jenga-like” countless times in the press, the result is an assemblage that appears carefully balanced in equilibrium rather than on the verge of toppling over. For four years during the financial crisis, construction was at a total standstill. For quite a while, it seemed as if Herzog & de Meuron’s 56 Leonard Street project-a 57-story residential tower in the Tribeca neighborhood of Lower Manhattan-would never get built. The unmistakable tonal patterns of the Gichũgũ dialect (which sounds like Meru or Embu, sister languages to Kikuyu) can be heard in the coffee-growing areas of Kianyaga, Gĩthũre, Kathũngũri, Marigiti. The dialect is also prevalent in the rice growing area of Mwea. Lower down the slopes is Kutus, which is a bustling town with so many influences from the other dialects that it is difficult to distinguish between them. Other home towns for the Ndia, where "purer" forms of the dialect are spoken, are located in the tea-growing areas of Kagumo, Baricho, Kagio, and the Kangaita hills. To hear Ndia being spoken, one needs to be in Kerugoya, the largest town in Kirinyaga County. The Gicugus and the Ndias do not have the "ch" or "sh" sound, and will use the "s" sound instead, hence the pronunciation of "Gĩcũgũ" as opposed to "Gĩchũgũ". The Kikuyu from Kĩrĩnyaga are composed of two main sub-dialects – the Ndia and Gichugu who speak the dialects Kĩndia and Gĩgĩcũgũ. The Central Province districts are divided along the traditional boundaries of these dialects, which are Kĩrĩnyaga, Mũrang'a, Nyeri and Kiambu. Kikuyu has four main mutually intelligible dialects. The Kikuyu people usually identify their lands by the surrounding mountain ranges in Central Kenya which they call Kĩrĩnyaga. Kikuyu is mainly spoken in the area between Nyeri and Nairobi. Kikuyu or Gikuyu (Gikuyu: Gĩkũyũ ) is a Bantu language spoken by the Gĩkũyũ ( Agĩkũyũ) of Kenya. For an introductory guide on IPA symbols, see Help:IPA. That being said, farmers don't necessarily need the mouse with the longest battery life out there. A wireless mouse with a short battery life means it has to be plugged in the majority of the time, essentially making it a wired mouse. Battery Life:The second most important factor in choosing a wireless mouse is the battery life. Here are the main improvements a LIGHTSPEED connection can provide: This type of connection is made to address a lot of the issues presented with the prior two types. LIGHTSPEED is a proprietary connection style used in Logitech G series products, such as the Logitech G305 LIGHTSPEED gaming mouse. These devices can suffer from interference in crowded areas and have a lower report rate than wired mice. Additionally, as the technology improves, the quality of Bluetooth connections improves too. Direct Bluetooth connections are more and more popular these days, and for good reason with a Bluetooth connection, gamers don't need to take up any of their precious ports.Due to the dongle being plugged directly into the used device, it is rare to see seamless device switching as a feature on USB dongle connection style wireless mice. Commonly seen in Logitech products, USB dongles provide a very Plug'n'Play experience that gives immediate gratification. Connectivity: USB Dongle is a classic connection style. The mouse should have responsive clicks, a good DPI range, an appropriate selection of convenient buttons, and a glitchless sensor. Performance: A lot of the same factors that help the decision to buy or avoid a wired gaming mouse are going to come into play when gamers pick up a wireless gaming mouse.Whether it's an ambidextrous design, battery life, or stunning RGB effects that blend in with a gaming rig, the following top-performing wireless gaming mice include ideal options for any shopper. At various price ranges, some models offer a greater level of precision and reaction rates to movements and clicks than others. It's no surprise then that wireless gaming mice are more popular than ever, but finding one that fits a gamer's hand and offers the right set of features is often equally nerve-wracking. Gaming mice are essential purchases for anyone who crave more performance and style compared to ordinary home and office peripherals. Unfortunately, many mice fail to meet the high standards of gamers and look more suited for the office than an eSports competition. Despite the popularity of controllers, many PC gamers demanding precision still prefer to use wireless gaming mice when playing their favorite FPS, RPG, and strategy titles. With this tool, users can embed a digital watermark directly into AI-generated images or audio they create. Currently in beta, SynthID is a tool for watermarking and identifying AI-generated content. Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysqlcheck: Got error: 1045: Access denied for user (using password: YES) when trying to connect Failure to update all the necessary files results in MAMP reporting the following error: By default it’s set to root.Ĭhanging the MySQL password for the root user was straightforward enough, but locating and editing the files to reflect the new password was a different story. This only applies to MAMP Pro as the non-Pro version doesn't generates any php.ini and if you want to change something you need to edit the original file yourself.Having recently changed my local testing server environment from XAMPP to MAMP v2.0.5 I wanted to change the password for the MySQL root user. Of course the example is for PHP 7.3.21 but you will need to repeat this for the folder of each PHP version you will be using on the Command-line. The conf folder should ended up looking like this: Then we need to create a symlink called php.ini for /Library/Application Support/appsolute/MAMP PRO/conf/php.ini (which is the auto generated one by MAMP) by doing: ln -sf /Library/Application\ Support/appsolute/MAMP\ PRO/conf/php.ini php.ini We already configured the Terminal to use MAMP's PHP binaries but we also need to configure it to use the generated php.ini by going to /Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php7.3.21/conf (where the not auto generate php.ini file is located) and delete it (after a back up). The final generated php.ini file is located at /Library/Application Support/appsolute/MAMP PRO/conf/php.ini. Here's something interesting about MAMP Pro: it generates, each time it starts, the final php.ini file it will be using during the execution as its content depends on the settings configured on the software’s UI.įor example, if you enable/disable Xdebug on MAMP by ticking/unticking the checkbox on the app, MAMP will regenerate the php.ini file with your configuration (this is basically how MAMP applies any setting change that you perform from the UI). Configuring the Command-line to use MAMP's php.ini You can check if everything was applied as expected by executing php -ini and seeing the paths are pointing to MAMP. Remember that everytime you change your Profile you need to "reload" it by doing source ~/.bash_profile (or whatever file you are using). Mines it's ~/.zshrc because I use Oh My Zsh. If you are using the default Terminal coming with macOS chances are the Profile will either be ~/.bash_profile or ~/.bashrc. Your Command-line's Profile file depends on your shell. #export PATH=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php7.4.9/bin:$PATHĪs you can see I'm adding a different line per PHP version I want to potentially have available on the Command-line (PHP 7.1.33, PHP 7.2.33, etcetera) but having them all but one (PHP 7.3.21) commented with the # at the beginning.Įvery time you switch the PHP version in MAMP you should come back to the Profile and leave uncomment the same version so the Terminal and MAMP match. #export PATH=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php7.2.33/bin:$PATHĮxport PATH=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php7.3.21/bin:$PATH You need to edit your Terminal's Profile in order to add the following to the end: #export PATH=/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php7.1.33/bin:$PATH Configuring the Command-line to use MAMP's PHP This next one is how I personally do it because it's easy to implement and it also covers something most of other guides won't which is configure the Terminal to also use the same php.ini MAMP uses. Out there you can find enough guides that helps you archive this because, frankly, there are plenty of methods to get this done. The idea behind changing the Command-line to start using the PHP coming with MAMP and its configuration is to be able to switch rapidly between PHP versions and to have the configuration for PHP in only one place. By default, after installation, MAMP will make its PHP binaries "available on the browser" while the Terminal will keep on using the system's PHP with its own configuration. |
